Flossie Britt

Flossie Britt

Flossie Britt
November 1914, Lumberton, NC.
The two smallest girls in the picture are the sisters Flossie and Lonnie Britt, respectively 8 and 10 years old. All the girls worked at the Lumberton Cotton Mill. After Flossie became ill, her mother pulled both of the sisters out and returned to the family farm.
Afterwards, the superintendent of the mill and two others tried intimidating the family into lying about Flossie and Lonnie’s age and time at the mill.
